UNITED STATES NAVY - WORLD WAR II. Dad voluntarily gave up his "critical industries" military exemption to enlist in the U.S. Navy after Pearl Harbor. He served in The Solomon Islands until the end of the war in 1945. He remained a loyal Navy Man - and "A Stevens Man" (he graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology in 1939 with his degree in Mechanical Engineering) - all his life.

65 YEARS TOGETHER. Dad and Mom met in a tea room where she was waitressing, shortly after Dad came to Williamsport in 1941 as a "Bethlehem Steel Looper," the elite executive management program of his new employer following graduation from college. With five children and dozens of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they were looking forward to their 65th Anniversary together this past April of 2008. They celebrated their 60th in 2003 (pictured here).
